Yes, there is a ground beef recall, but not for beef sold at grocery storesA not-sweet Week 16 for us, specially against the spread (with the Vikings’ 3-point win the push). We missed our Upset of the Week, missed on Fins-Niners and got unlucky on Jalen Hurts’ injury. The good stuff? One point off an Exacto perfect score on Lions-Bears, and had Dallas with the points over Tampa. With two weeks left our .675 mark outright is very solid but we’re now down to five games over .500 against the betting line. Finish strong! [Note: Our Christmas Day picks were Chiefs (14-1, -2 1/2) over @Steelers (10-5), 24-18, and Ravens (10-5, -5 1/2) over @Texans (9-6), 27-20. Our Thursday night pick was Seahawks (8-7, -3 1/2) over @Bears (4-11), 23-16.] ——— Javascript is required for you to be able to read premium content. The council also approved a resolution regarding reserving one supernumerary seat in each postgraduate course for single girl students. In its 1021st meeting, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, the council approved the implementation of the "Postgraduate Curriculum Framework 2024" (PGCF 2024), which aligns with NEP 2020 and paves the way for the one-year postgraduate programme. However, some Academic Council members raised strong objections to the proposed framework, citing various challenges and potential drawbacks. The resolution passed by the council will now be presented to the Executive Council, the university's highest decision-making body. The one-year postgraduate programme will be available to graduates of DU's four-year undergraduate course, while students with a three-year undergraduate degree can opt for the existing two-year programme. Students in the one-year programme will earn 44 credits, while those in the two-year programme will complete 88 credits. In another decision, the council, a key statutory body responsible for overseeing academic matters, approved the reservation of additional seats for single female students in postgraduate programmes. A dissent note signed by members Mithuraj Dhusiya, Biswajit Mohanty, and another representative highlighted concerns over the outcomes of dissertation writing, academic projects, and entrepreneurship under the fourth year of the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 2022 (UGCF 2022). They argued that inadequate infrastructure, insufficient time for self-study, and the absence of a minimum CGPA requirement for entry into the fourth year would make achieving these outcomes nearly impossible. At the beginning of the meeting, members observed two minutes of silence to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. In a significant administrative move, the Vice-Chancellor directed all college principals to resolve pending faculty promotion cases by February 28, 2025, through their respective Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs). Colleges unable to meet the deadline will require explicit approval from the Vice-Chancellor for extensions. The council also approved increasing seats in specialised courses such as DM (Neuroanaesthesia) at GIPMER and B.Sc. (Medical Technology) Radiology at Lady Hardinge Medical College, starting from the 2025-26 academic session, subject to regulatory approvals. Additionally, the council approved the introduction of a PhD in Hindu Studies from the 2025-26 academic session and reaffirmed the reservation of additional seats for single girl students in postgraduate programmes. Efforts to enhance health facilities were also highlighted, including plans to construct a four-storey DU Health Centre to accommodate more doctors and affiliate a railway hospital to provide healthcare to DU employees at par with railway staff. New Delhi, Dec 27 (PTI) The railway ministry on Friday dismissed as "fake" and "misleading" claims that a man travelled 250 kilometres from Itarsi to Jabalpur hiding on a train's wheel axle. Railway officials said that someone shot the video of the man coming out of the wheel axle of a stationary train and circulated it with the misleading claim that he had to hide himself near the wheelset because he did not have money to buy tickets. "These reports are completely fake and baseless," Dilip Kumar, Executive Director, Information and Publicity, Railway Board, said. "The person was just hiding near the wheel axle when the train was not moving. It is practically not possible for anyone to hide on the wheelset of a moving train as it moves along with the wheels," he said. "Some news organisations and social media influencers picked it up and made it viral without verifying its authenticity," Kumar added. As Sanders was brought down near the sideline after a 10-yard reception, he was flipped upside down and landed directly on the top of his helmet as he went out of bounds on the tackle by cornerback Trent McDuffie. After receiving attention from the team's medical staff, Sanders was strapped to a backboard and taken off the field on a cart with 40 seconds remaining in the half. He was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for observation and later released Sunday afternoon, according to the team. On the CBS broadcast following halftime, Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Sanders had movement in all his extremities, while extreme precaution was taken because of back tightness. CBS reported he was being examined for a concussion before later amending that to a neck injury. The 21-year-old rookie out of Texas had a team-leading three receptions for the Panthers at the half for 49 yards. In 11 games this season, Sanders has 29 receptions for 302 yards and a touchdown. Sanders was a fourth-round selection in the NFL draft in April. --Field Level MediaSeahawks place running back Kenneth Walker III on injured reserve CHICAGO (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks placed running back Kenneth Walker III on injured reserve prior to their game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday because of an ankle injury. (AP Photo/Lindsey Wasson) CHICAGO (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks placed running back Kenneth Walker III on injured reserve prior to their game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday because of an ankle injury. Walker hurt his ankle in last week's loss to Minnesota and left that game after sitting out the previous two because of a calf problem. He also missed two weeks in September with an oblique issue. Walker has run for 573 yards and seven touchdowns on 153 carries. A second-round draft pick by Seattle in 2022, he has 2,528 yards rushing and 24 TDs in his career. Walker could, in theory, return if the Seahawks win two playoff games, though their postseason hopes were slim entering the game against Chicago. Seattle (8-7) trailed the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams (9-6) by one game with two to play. The Seahawks' best path to the postseason was to win the final two regular-season games and have Los Angeles lose to Arizona on Saturday. Seattle visits the Rams to close the regular season. With Walker out, Seattle signed rookie running back George Holani off the practice squad. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL The Associated Press See a typo/mistake? Have a story/tip?
